Are self defense weapons such as pepper spray, stun guns, and tasers really worth it? Let's take a look at this for a second. Lets say you have a real sweatheart of a gun...Let's say a .45 dessert eagle, which will run you over $500. You have a license to carry in your state and you are all legal.
Walking home from the bar some wise guy decides he wants to rob you. He pulls his gun which now gives you the right to pull your gun, but you can't fire....atleast not in the state of Ohio. You have to be fired upon to be able to use your gun in Ohio... that's problem #1. O.K. Now he fires and you return fire and hit him. Now you wait for the cops to show and you find out that they have to take your $500 gun into evidence and in most cases they keep the gun. That's problem #2.
- You don't have to wait to be fired upon to use a self defense weapon.
- You don't have to worry about the cops taking them from you and if they were being jerks and they did, pepper spray is very easy to replace and a cheap stun gun which is just as effective as an expensive one will run you about $22.00. Compared against losing over $500.... I think I would chose the stun gun, taser, or pepper spray.
- Stun guns, tasers, and pepper spray are very easy to conceal until that crucial moment when you can catch them off guard and nail them. weakening them long enough for you to get away.
- Self defense weapons are far safer to the user and are non-lethal. So, should the attacker get the weapon from you. The odds of you dying from your own weapon are slim to none.
Based on this analisys I would say that self defense weapons are far better than real leathal weapons. There are people dying every day because of guns. Those that say guns don't kill people obviously have not had someone close to them die of a gunshot. Yes there was someone who pulled the trigger but, if they didn't have the gun the odds are they probably wouldn't have killed the person. Guns give people a false sense of power and from the high that gives them they make decisions they normally wouldn't make.

I'm very much like Hawkeye in the Mash TV series, we both hate guns. And owning a gun does not mean you have protection. It can easily turn on you when in an altercation.
